Boat Of Garten Golf Club              
 

Designed by one of the grand-masters of golf course architecture - James Braid, "The Boat" is not only a demanding test of sporting skill hut also a magnificent setting for the game. The view from the Clubhouse, over the 1st and 2nd fairways and beyond to the Cairngorm Mountains - with distinctive features such as the Lairig Ghru and the northern corries of Braeriach - is incomparable.

Certainly, depending on the day, it can inspire high achievement or, in the more common event of a disappointing performance, affords the comfort and consolation of communing with nature in uniquely attractive surroundings.

The original 9-hole course dates hack to 1898 and served wel1 until it was decided to extend the course in 1930. James Braid visited in 1931 and drew up plans that were eventual1y implemented by John R. Sutt. Braid's main achievement is the dh hole, renowned as one of the finest holes in all of Scotland.
